Sharing my work
“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” ~Edward Degas
We all ‘see’ differently. Take a few photographers on a mountain trail and even if we photograph the same thing, the images will be different. Here I share what I see.
Behind the scenes
Learning how other artists work is fascinating to me. Their individual process can offer validation or information. Creativity is a marvelous thing unique to each individual. I’ll take you behind the scenes of my own work and process in these posts.
Flowers that Command Attention
I almost passed by this fascinating wild flower. But when I looked closely, I was fascinated. I had to squat and found the angle a bit awkward which made me appreciate my yoga practice!
Train Trip
My husband and I traveled from California to Denver via train in 2018. We had a sleeper car and one of my favorite things to do was see what travelers did before or after boarding, perhaps greeting others.

Porch Portraits: Rebecca
That beautiful smile! Rebecca was a bright light, full of energy and creativity. The day was hot and the noon hour not the best for a portrait, but Rebecca was all in and laughter filled the air.
Porch Portraits: Cindi
I photographed lovely Cindi on a hot day while socially distanced. This image was captured in between poses and I love how her expression is one of seeking and yearning. It makes me wonder, what was she thinking about?
Porch Portraits: Jean
The Pandemic has led me to shooting Porch Portraits, or mini-sessions, portraits from a distance. Jean has a lovely sense of humor, but I love this pensive image of her as she looked out over her lovely back yard.
Those Purple Tulips
My spring garden brought me immense joy this year. The purple tulips were vibrant, lush and full of life at a time when human life seemed particularly fragile and our future uncertain.
Tulips
They open each morning in such innocence and with hope. My tulips feel like a smile, a soft, loving glance, and I imagine I hear them say, "It will be all right. Everything will be all right."
